Local names- akoko(Yoruba), aduruku(Hausa), ogirisi(Igbo)
Newbouldia laevis is a shrub or small tree reaching 7_20m high. The plant has shiny dark green leaves and bears large showy terminal purple flowers. It is a familiar live-fence and boundary tree throughout its distribution. It is often grown as an ornamental and is easily cultivated by cuttings.

Medicinal usesof fertility

Fertility plant also called ‘tree of life’. A deoction of the leaf is taken by women to treat ferility problems. However, a higher dosage of the leaf decoction has a uterine contraction effect and traditional healers in Nigeria use it to facilitate labour. The young leaf can also be cooked with red oil drink during labour to facilitte easy delivery. A decoction of the leaf use as gargle in the mouth for 4_5 minutes continuously is use to treat dental caries.
The bark is stomachic and analgelsic. A decoction is used in the treatment of dysentry, diarrhoea, epilepsy, cough and convulsion. The pounded dried bark combine with Xylopia sp and other spices is taken inform of herbal tea to relieve dysmenorrhoea. A decoction of the bark, sieve is taken inform of an enema as a treatment for piles and constipation. Dried powdered of the bark combined with aligator pepper(Aframomum melegueta) is sniffed inform of snuff to treat migraine and sinusitis. The bark applied externally is use to cure wounds, ulcers and abscesses.
A decoction or ethanol extract of the root is used for the treatment of syphilis and intestinal problems such as worms. The decoction of the root is laxative and is use to treat constipation. The maceration of the root is effecive for the treatment of arthritis and rheumatic pains. The powdered root combine with chili pepper(Capsicum frutescens) are put into a carious tooth to treat toothache. The powdered dry root combine with root of Lopharia sp are infused inform of ointment and use to massage oedema ariving through dietary deficiency.
Decoction of the root and leaves are remedy for scrotal elephantiasis, fever and as an aphrodisiac.

  3. Pls I’m 37yrs, my penes has always been too small and have spent alot since age of 15, when it was discovered. Different hospitals with different diagnosis but all to knw avail. Afraid of been barren as a man. Because of this, NO girlfriend, wife, male friend, etc. Also NO money left on me. Imagine the kind of lifestyle. Pls I need urgent help. My name is Olanrewaju thanks.

    1. @Olarewaju. Sorry about that, I could understand what you are passing through. As you have rightly said you have visited many places and spent lots of money but no visible result. There are many claims of penis enlargement but non of them really yield any visible result. The size of penis depend on your gene makeup and hormonal development during puberty. Some guys with average penis usually complain of having smaller size. This is more of psychological issues. Small size can not make you infertile in as much as you can have erection and ejaculate active sperm cells. You don’t really need big size to satisfy woman, there are many ways you can go about that. There are only few interventions that may yield little result: 1. Surgery by removing some fat around the pelvic region to expose some hidden part of the penis. However there are possible side effects and such surgery has not been approved in some country because of the safety concern. 2. Another intervention is through lost of weight for those who are obese . Excesses fat in the pelvic region usually decrease the size of penis. This can be achieve through proper diet and exercise. Other claims of penis enlargement through pump, pills do not work or only give a short time effect. With the size you have you can marry and have your own children . you really need to pick courage and look for woman that understand your condition that will accept to marry you. The condition may not be worse the way you are looking at it. There has not been any proven herbs that are effective in this area. Thanks.
